GRP Dagger-Board Fascia Panels

Beaconsfield Station

When Beaconsfield Railway Station had a requirement to replace old wooden dagger boards across the length of their passenger foot bridge they opted for white wood-grained GRP dagger boards from Smyth Composites.  These boards were specified due to the ease of fitting and long term benefits of having a maintenance free product.  The new boards were waterjet cut to match the profile of the original boards allowing the placement of new panels alongside wooden ones that weren’t getting replaced in the current phase of refurbishment.

Impact Resistant, Anti-Vandal Glazing

Salisbury Railway Station

In early June 2013 Spence were tasked with refurbishing the 19thC impact resistant canopies at Salisbury Station.  The company they subcontracted were instructed to install FybaGard fire retardant GRP panels.

Over a period of months Smyth Composites delivered over 900 panels amounting to just over 1000m2.  FybaGard GRP was chosen as the preferred glazing panel due to is excellent anti-UV properties as well as its inherent strength, durability and authentic Georgian wire appearance.

Anti-Slip Stair Treads & Noses

MV Hebridean Isles

Smyth Composites were contacted by a crew member of MV Hebridean Isles who was responsible for a project to replace the old worn stair treads throughout the ship. He’d previously contacted several other companies but wasn’t impressed with the quality of their product or the prices offered!

After receiving samples of our Standard and Premier Stair Treads, and on hearing our very competitive prices, he decided to order enough Premier Treads to complete 2 stairways on a trial basis. After a successful installation and trial period enough treads were ordered to complete a further 6 stairways.

Smyth Composites are delighted to have supplied these anti-slip stair treads to MV Hebridean Isles and look forward to supplying her sister ships and those of other companies going forward.

GRP Sandwich Panels (Fybacore)

Bell Street Police Station, Dundee

Fybacore Insulation Panels at Dundee Police HQ

As part of a large refurbishment of the Police HQ in Dundee the widows and infill panels within the framing system were upgraded.  The infill panels selected were Smyth Composites FybaCore (foam) panels with an internal white finish and an external blue leatherette finish, which was chosen because of it’s excellent anti-U.V. properties.
